Rocky Mountain National Park has a bit of a hold on me.

It’s where I got engaged to my now-husband. And not even that long after, we packed up our lives and moved out here. Now I wake up, walk out onto our deck, and can literally see the highest peaks of the park staring back at me. (which still feels a little unreal, if I’m being honest) 
So yeah, it’s not just a place I shoot at. It’s a place that feels like home in a very real way.

And I know RMNP gets labeled as the “Disneyland” of national parks… crowded, overdone, too popular to feel special. But I think that take usually comes from people who are hitting the same five spots, at the same times, in the middle of peak season.

Because the version of RMNP that I know? It’s quiet mornings, empty pull-offs, places where you can hear the wind before you hear another person, and views that still make you stop mid-sentence.

It just takes knowing where to go… and when.

It’s one of my favorite places to bring my elopement couples for a reason. If you’re into big mountain views, slower moments, and a day that actually feels like yours, this place does it really well.

I don’t know what it is, but I have a weird talent

I don’t know what it is, but I have a weird talent for finding really good cabins (so here’s some Colorado Elopement Airbnb’s 😉).

Like the kind of places where you post one photo and suddenly people are in your DMs like “wait… where is this” and you’re sending links left and right.

And I’m not talking about just a “cute” Airbnb.

I mean the ones where you walk in and immediately clock the big windows, the light, the way the mountains hit just right outside. The kind of place where your morning starts slow, you’ve got a legit coffee setup (not just a sad Keurig), maybe you’re wrapped up in a robe for way longer than you planned, and there’s a hot tub or sauna moment waiting for you at the end of the day.

It’s that balance of being outside all day… and then coming back to a place that actually makes you want to stay in.

That’s the sweet spot.

I have a running list of places like this all over Colorado. The kind of spots that feel like part of the experience without trying too hard or feeling overdone.

And as a very casual side note… I’ve probably stayed in or looked into more of these than I can count at this point, so I tend to know which ones are actually worth it. 😉
