Hi, I'm Kasey Jo!

Look, as your Colorado elopement photographer, I love hiking as much as the next gal. But I want to enjoy the heck out of those mountain views … then enjoy a great meal that doesn’t require a camp stove. What about you? Samesies?

I’ve photographed elopements all across Colorado, from the Front Range to the San Juans to the desert landscapes that most people don’t even realize exist here. I know what it takes to craft an epic, intentional day that feels wildly unique and somehow still crowd-free. Think of me as your Colorado insider, logistics brain, and experience guide all rolled into one.

Your elopement guide

CHOOSING THE TIME OF YEAR TO ELOPE

Before we start planning anything else, knowing the date you want to elope is super important. Nothing kills a plan more than realizing that wildflower meadow near Crested Butte you’ve been dreaming about is still buried under snow… or that Trail Ridge Road hasn’t opened yet for the season.

Choosing the time of year and the overall vibe you’re going for helps me start honing in on your perfect Colorado locations, whether that’s golden aspens along Kebler Pass, snowy winter vows in Aspen, or warm desert light out near The Great Sand Dunes. I promise, you don’t need to have anything else decided yet.

Wedding couple dipping for a kiss in Loveland Pass, Colorado

Not just the popular spots. The places that actually feel like yours.

After years of exploring, living in and photographing elopements across Colorado, I’ve learned where the magic really lives. These are my go-to regions for couples who want epic views, intentional experiences, and moments that feel wildly personal without the crowds.

The San Juan Mountains (Ouray, Telluride, Silverton)

The Vibe & Landscape:

The San Juans are easily some of the most dramatic mountains in all of Colorado. Think jagged peaks, wildflower-filled basins, waterfall-lined passes, hot springs and those winding alpine roads that keep unfolding view after view. This region leans more adventurous than places along the Front Range, but the payoff is unreal scenery that feels big, cinematic, and immersive without needing to hike for miles.

What You Should Know Before You Go:

A lot of the best viewpoints here sit along 4×4 roads or higher elevation passes, which means timing and logistics really matter. Snowpack can linger well into early summer, and late summer storm season can bring fast-moving thunderstorms that roll in out of nowhere. Permits vary depending on exact locations, and some areas require extra planning to keep things low-impact and crowd-free. The good news? This is the kind of behind-the-scenes stuff I help guide you through so the day feels effortless on your end.

Why I Recommend It:

I love guiding couples toward the San Juans when they want that “holy sh*t, this feels unreal” kind of mountain energy. It’s perfect for couples who are drawn to wildflowers, alpine lakes, jeep roads, and landscapes that feel a little more off-the-beaten-path than the classic Colorado hotspots. If you want an elopement that feels adventurous, cinematic, and deeply rooted in Colorado’s natural beauty, this region delivers every single time. (Plus, Ouray is literally my favorite mountain town, ever!)

Rocky Mountain National Park & Estes Park

The Vibe & Landscape:

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most iconic alpine landscapes in Colorado, and for good reason. Think sweeping mountain overlooks along Trail Ridge Road, glassy alpine lakes tucked between peaks, and quiet forested trails that shift with every season. Compared to the San Juans, this area feels a little more accessible and refined, with big mountain views that don’t always require off-roading or long hikes to reach.

What you should know before you go:

RMNP has more structure than most Colorado elopement locations, which means permits, timed entry windows, and seasonal road closures play a big role in planning. Trail Ridge Road closes in winter due to snow, and summer can bring heavier visitor traffic, so timing and location strategy matter if you want those quiet, intentional moments. The upside? With the right planning, it’s absolutely possible to experience the park in ways that feel peaceful and personal.

Why I recommend it:

RMNP is perfect for couples who want classic Colorado alpine scenery paired with a little more ease and accessibility. It’s an incredible fit for sunrise vows, intimate ceremonies with a few guests, and couples who love the idea of standing somewhere iconic without sacrificing intention. It also holds a special place in my heart, it’s where I got engaged along Trail Ridge Road (and can literally see the park off the deck of my house!), so guiding couples through this landscape feels extra meaningful every time.

Crested Butte & Kebler Pass

The Vibe & Landscape:

Crested Butte brings a softer, more colorful side of Colorado’s mountains. Think rolling alpine basins, wildflower-covered hillsides in summer, golden aspen tunnels along Kebler Pass in fall, and quiet backroads that lead to tucked-away lakes. The energy here feels laidback and immersive, with wide-open scenery that invites you to slow down and actually take it all in.

What you should know before you go:

This region changes a lot with the seasons, which makes timing everything. Wildflower season usually peaks mid to late summer, while fall color around Kebler Pass can be short-lived but absolutely unreal. Some of the most scenic areas sit along dirt or 4×4 roads, and weather in the high country can shift quickly even on a bluebird day. Permits are typically more flexible than national parks, but choosing the right locations and timing helps keep your experience peaceful and crowd-free.

Why I recommend it:

I love guiding couples toward Crested Butte when they want that dreamy Colorado feel without the intensity of the bigger alpine ranges. It’s perfect for slow mornings at your cabin, off-roading to hidden lakes, and those quiet moments where you might literally stop to pet horses along the trail. If you’re drawn to color, texture, and an elopement day that feels grounded, intentional, and wildly Colorado, this region is such a gem.

Great Sand Dunes National Park & Southern Colorado Desert

The Vibe & Landscape:

Great Sand Dunes feels like stepping into a completely different side of Colorado. Think rolling golden sand dunes, wide-open skies, and mountains rising in the distance while the desert landscape stays soft and minimal around you. The energy here is slower, warmer, and a little more surreal than the alpine regions, with textures and light that shift constantly throughout the day.

What you should know before you go:

Because this is a national park, permits and location guidelines play an important role in planning your ceremony. The dunes can be bright and exposed during midday, which makes timing and seasonal weather a big factor when designing your experience. Wind is part of the landscape here too, so building flexibility into your timeline helps keep the day feeling relaxed instead of rushed. The upside is that with the right strategy, it’s surprisingly easy to find space that feels private and expansive.

Why I recommend it:

I love guiding couples here when they want something unexpected but still deeply Colorado. It’s perfect for couples who are drawn to texture, movement, and desert landscapes that feel completely different from the typical mountain elopement. If you want a day that feels bold, simple, and a little unconventional, Great Sand Dunes creates a vibe you just won’t find anywhere else in the state.

Breckenridge & Summit County

The Vibe & Landscape:

Summit County brings that classic Colorado mountain town feel with a little extra ease built in. Think sweeping reservoir views, evergreen forests, soft alpine ridgelines, and cozy cabins tucked just outside town. Compared to more remote regions, this area feels welcoming and accessible while still delivering beautiful mountain scenery that changes with every season.

What you should know before you go:

Because Breckenridge and the surrounding areas are popular year-round, timing and location choice make a big difference in creating a more private experience. Some overlooks and trails require permits depending on group size, and seasonal tourism can shift the energy of certain spots. The good news is that there are plenty of quieter corners throughout Summit County if you know where to look, which allows your day to feel intentional without needing intense logistics or off-roading.

Why I recommend it:

I love recommending Summit County for couples who want a balance of epic views and laidback comfort. It’s a beautiful fit for intimate ceremonies, multi-day celebrations with a few guests, and elopements that blend outdoor adventure with cozy mountain town energy. If you’re dreaming of something that feels elevated but still relaxed and very much iconic Colorado, this region delivers in such a natural way.

Vail, Aspen & Glenwood Springs

The Vibe & Landscape:

This region blends high-alpine scenery with a more polished mountain-town feel. Think sweeping mountain ridgelines, wildflower meadows in summer, golden aspens in fall, and quiet alpine overlooks just a gondola ride or short hike away. Compared to more rugged areas like the San Juans, the energy here feels a little more refined and relaxed while still surrounded by some of Colorado’s most beautiful terrain.

What you should know before you go:

Vail and Aspen have more structured regulations than many other mountain towns, which means certain ceremony spots require permits or careful planning depending on location and guest count. Gondola access, seasonal closures, and weather at higher elevations can all influence timing, especially in shoulder seasons. The upside is that with the right approach, you can experience incredible alpine views without needing heavy off-road logistics or long treks.

Why I recommend it:

I love guiding couples here when they want mountain scenery that feels elevated, intentional, and a little more luxe without losing that Colorado authenticity. It’s perfect for couples who love the idea of combining alpine landscapes with a relaxed, stylish atmosphere and an experience that feels both adventurous and comfortable at the same time.

Finding Unreal Cabins Is Basically My Love Language

No, seriously. I’ve made a whole personality out of scrolling Airbnb at midnight and saving the most vibey mountain stays in Colorado. The right cabin sets the tone for your entire elopement weekend, and I’m here to help you find one that feels just as special as the day itself.

Backcountry A-Frame

A-Frame on 6 Acres bordering National Forest in Kremmling, CO

Tucked away on six private acres bordering Routt National Forest, this modern A-frame feels like the perfect blend of cozy cabin energy and elevated mountain escape. With soaring ceilings, huge windows overlooking the forest, and a quiet back deck made for slow mornings or post-elopement hangs, it’s the kind of space that instantly sets the tone for an intentional Colorado experience. I actually stayed here for my birthday a few months ago and completely fell in love with it, it immediately went on my “bring my couples here” list. Plus, it’s only about an hour from Steamboat Springs (hello, Strawberry Park Hot Springs), which makes it such a dreamy home base for a mountain elopement weekend.

Alpenglow Cabin

Mountain escape near Twin Lakes, CO

Nestled near Twin Lakes at the base of Independence Pass, this dreamy alpine cabin feels like a private wellness retreat tucked deep in the mountains. With panoramic views of surrounding fourteeners, cathedral windows that flood the space with light, and thoughtful details like a custom sauna and hot tub overlooking the peaks, it’s the kind of place that instantly slows everything down. The design leans modern and minimalist while still feeling warm and grounded in nature, which makes it such a beautiful backdrop for slow elopement mornings or post-ceremony celebrations. If you’re dreaming of a Colorado stay that feels secluded, intentional, and completely immersive, this one is easily a favorite of mine (plus just look at those mountain views!!).

Outside Inn Nature Hotel

Design-Forward Cabins in the Collegiate Peaks

Outside Inn is such a fun, unique option for couples looking for something beyond a traditional cabin stay, it’s actually designed as a small wedding and elopement venue tucked into a private Colorado valley. I photographed an elopement here when they first opened back in 2023, and it’s been so cool watching the space evolve with all the thoughtful renovations they’ve added since. The property is made up of architect-designed cabins with huge glass walls, outdoor beds, and cozy shared spaces that really bring the outdoors in, which makes it feel more like an intentional experience than just a place to stay. If you’re dreaming of an intimate celebration that blends nature, design, and a little bit of quirky Colorado charm, Outside Inn is such a special spot to consider.

“A perfect experience! From the start, we weren’t sure how we wanted our elopement to look or where we wanted to go; but Kasey helped us every single step of the way. She helped us explore all park options, gave us lists on great places to stay, recommended local experiences and was able to shape the entire trip around our interests and wants. Kasey would get back to us with any questions we had and always had time to jump on a call, which relieved a lot of our stress when planning the elopement! On the day of, at a park we have never been to before, Kasey helped us navigate to secluded areas for photos (which made us feel like the only two people in the park). We trusted every prompt and pose she gave us and the results are breathtaking! Kasey was not just our wedding photographer, she set up and delivered on every aspect of prep and planning. We could not be more thankful for having her with us through the entire process!”
